Welcome to fall semester 2023 at Middle Georgia State University! I extend warm greetings to our new Matriculating Class of 2023 and to our returning students and to our faculty and staff. We have an exciting academic year ahead and I look forward to sharing it with all of you. I hope the new semester is starting very well for you.
A new year is a great time to reaffirm our commitment to the core values that support our institution's success. These values – Stewardship, Engagement, Adaptability, and Learning – are the guiding principles that shape our community's culture and aspirations. They provide a guide to our success. I especially encourage our students to apply these values to their University experiences to help them reach the ultimate prize of academic success and graduation. These are not words simply of expression, but principles that can help us succeed in our work and our studies. If we apply them, we will win big this year!
At the heart of our mission is the principle of stewardship. Just as we nurture the minds of our students, we must also nurture our environment and resources. Stewardship is the ongoing responsibility we have to preserve and enhance the fiscal, intellectual, and social fabric of the MGA community.
A vibrant University thrives on engagement, not only on our campuses but with the communities we serve. By embracing engagement, we foster an environment where perspectives converge, sparking innovation and fostering a sense of belonging.
Our ability to thrive depends on our capacity to adapt. Adaptability means being open to new ideas, technologies, and methodologies. As a University community, we embrace change as an opportunity to evolve, equipping students with skills needed to excel in our changing world.
Learning is the cornerstone of our existence. It is a continuous journey in which students, faculty, and staff come together to explore, discover, and grow. We are committed to creating an environment where curiosity and critical thinking are cultivated.
Through Stewardship, Engagement, Adaptability, and Learning, we find the compass that guides us through our mission of educational excellence. As we set forth on this new academic year, let us embrace our time together and recommit ourselves to these critical values. I invite you to explore more about our “SEAL” Core Values on our website: values webpage.
I wish you well for a new academic year, and Go Knights!
