Dear MGA Community,
We are now two weeks into the fall semester! I hope you have had a wonderful start to this new academic year. Now that we have all settled into our new routines, let us take a moment to focus on one of our core values: Engagement.
Engagement is what makes our campus life vibrant. It is through active participation and involvement that we build a stronger, more united community. I encourage each of you to embrace the numerous opportunities that are available to engage with one another and enrich your experience at MGA. Here are just a few ways you can get involved this fall:
- Cheer on our Knights at a sporting event: Opening with the start of our soccer season, all our athletic teams are gearing up for an exhilarating year, and your support can make a significant difference. Your presence boosts our athletes’ morale and fosters school spirit, so if you can attend a basketball game, a tennis match, a volleyball game, or any other sporting event, I encourage you to do so.
- Attend the inaugural Jennings Family Lecture: This new lecture series will be a cornerstone of our intellectual community, bringing distinguished speakers to share their insights and experiences. We will welcome former Google VP and founding partner of Machina Ventures Matthew Stepka to our Macon Campus on Sept. 11 for a lecture on “How A.I. is Transforming Education & the Human Experience.” Registration is now open, and I hope to see you there.
- Participate in a book talk with Michael Thurmond: Hosted by the Center for Middle Georgia Studies, this event on Sept. 18 is an excellent opportunity to engage with thought-provoking discussions and connect with fellow book enthusiasts as public figure and author Michael Thurmond discusses his book James Oglethorpe: Father of Georgia. His insights promise to be both enlightening and inspiring.
- Get involved with Knight Life: Knight Life offers a plethora of activities and events for our students to attend. We have held a record-breaking number of events in the opening weeks of school, and I was delighted to see such a positive turnout for a recent MGA Bingo night in Cochran. I encourage all our students to take advantage of the opportunities that Knight Life has for them, and I am grateful to our communities and MGA team members who help make these events possible.
New opportunities will be available to you each week as our academic year progresses. As you become more involved, I challenge you to remember that engagement is more than just participation; it is about making meaningful connections and contributing to the collective growth of our community.
Thank you for your commitment to our core values and for making our campuses dynamic and inclusive places to learn and grow. I look forward to engaging with you at our events this year.
Go Knights!
Chris
